Our Varna office plays a critical role in our Finance and Operations infrastructure, and we are now looking for a highly experienced and motivated Team Lead, Accounts Payable, Bulgaria to lead the local accounting team while serving as a key point of leadership and coordination for the broader office. 

The Role 

As Team Lead, Accounts Payable, Bulgaria you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions for the Varna office, ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements and international standards, and supporting the broader financial goals of the Group. Additionally, you will act as a local leader, serving as a key liaison with other departments and helping foster a collaborative, high-performing culture in the Varna office. 

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the local accounting team to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting 

• Oversee and ensure the timely completion of clean-up tasks within defined deadlines, coordinating resources and monitoring progress to meet quality standards. 

• Ensure full compliance with Bulgarian statutory accounting, tax, and financial regulations 

• Coordinate external audits and act as the primary contact for auditors and local authorities 

• Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of finance systems and processes across international teams. 

• Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments including tax, procurement, and HR 

• Act as a key point of contact between Varna and headquarters for finance-related matters 

• Play a leadership role in the local office—helping to drive engagement, resolve issues, and support operational alignment 

• Provide mentorship and development for team members and contribute to a positive and inclusive office culture 

Qualifications:

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/ACCA/CIMA qualification is a plus 

• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role 

• Strong knowledge of Bulgarian accounting and tax regulations,  

• Practical experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, etc.) is a plus. 

• Excellent communication skills in English

• Strong leadership presence with the ability to lead a team and represent the company locally 

• Self-driven, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment
