In this role, you will take ownership of our semantic data layer, transforming complex raw data into clear, scalable models that empower teams across the company. By combining strong technical expertise in SQL, DAX, and data modelling with a deep understanding of business needs, you will enable reliable self-service analytics and drive better outcomes across all departments. 

Your Responsibilities 

• Own and continuously improve our analytical data models and semantic layer so that they meet stakeholder needs in terms of business relevance, usability, consistency and performance. 

• Act as a key partner for business stakeholders in regular weekly exchanges, helping to clarify requirements, challenge requests where needed and translate them into scalable data solutions. 

• Maintain and evolve curated reporting datasets, KPI logic and semantic models used across the company, with a strong focus on clean definitions and sustainable modelling. 

• Work closely with stakeholders and product teams on larger initiatives, migrations and data-related efforts to ensure analytical requirements are considered early and implemented consistently. 

• Analyze business processes and source data to understand how new requirements should be reflected in our data model, and identify data quality issues, logic gaps or inconsistencies. 

• Design, build and refine SQL-based transformations and dimensional models in collaboration with Data Engineers, ensuring that downstream reporting is robust and well structured. 

• Support the rollout of reporting and modelling standards across the company so that self-service analytics can scale without creating conflicting KPI definitions. 
  Investigate data issues raised by stakeholders, trace them through the transformation layers and distinguish between upstream source issues, modelling issues and reporting issues. 

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our analytics stack, including semantic modelling, migration topics, documentation and ways of working between business and data teams. 

• Collaborate closely with Analytics Engineers, Data Engineers and Data Scientists to ensure consistent business logic and trusted data foundations.  

Your Qualifications 

• Several years of professional experience in Analytics Engineering, BI Engineering or a similar role with strong ownership of analytical data models and stakeholder-facing delivery. 

• Very strong SQL skills and solid experience in building and maintaining dimensional models, curated marts and semantic layers. 
  Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, including semantic modelling and KPI logic; DAX knowledge is a plus. 

• Ability to work closely with business stakeholders, understand their goals and translate ambiguous requirements into clear and scalable data solutions. 

• Strong understanding of data modelling principles, especially fact and dimension design, metric definition and maintainable reporting structures. 
  Experience working with modern analytics engineering practices such as version control, code reviews and collaborative development workflows. 

• A pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance business speed and technical quality. 

• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and the confidence to challenge requirements where necessary. 

• Very good English communication skills; German is a plus. 

• Experience in ecommerce, retail or marketplace environments is a plus.
